Great simple glasses

Review Date: March 5, 2009
Reviewer: Jennifer I. Kim-bartell, Sunnyvale, CA
We purchased 6 of these about 2 years ago and liked them so much we finally completed our set of 12. They are especially good for us because we host large family gatherings often and inevitably one of the kids accidentally knocks over a glass - because these have no stems, not a single one of them has ever broken. I highly recommend these glasses.

I've been looking for these glasses for several months at stores near home but no one seemed to carry the white wine glasses, only the reds. When I saw them online and at a great price I ordered them, but fully expected that at least one would be broken when they were delivered. I was delighted to be wrong! They arrived in perfect shape and with surprisingly little packaging. These are fantastic glasses and they've even withstood our lively house. Three months and still 8 glasses!
Great glasses for dishwashers

Review Date: February 19, 2008
Reviewer: A. Rule, Florence, OR USA
I've always broken more stemmed glasses during hand-washing than by putting them in the dishwasher. But, I bought new Villeroy & Bosch square dinner plates which are larger than most dishes & have to adjust the dishwasher rack to accommodate them. At this point, the wine glasses don't fit. The solution: buy Riedel 'O' stemless wine glasses. I am a total red wine drinker, but I find the ones for red wine are large enough so that I pour too generous a serving(at least for me) so the Chardonnay glasses are perfect. I love them and many of my friends are making the switch now too. Stems may be romantic but the wine tastes just as good without stems.
Great!

Bought the Cab & Chard 8-for-6 boxes. They do the trick! My wife thinks white wine glasses need stems so you are no warming up the wine with your fingers, but I don't experience that.
Bought the Pinot (still in route) too, but they are not 8-6. They come in 2-packs. However, they are buy 4, pay for three so it's the same thing.
I really like these glasses. Worth the cost.
Party choice

Review Date: November 16, 2009
Reviewer: S. Lam, Oakland, CA United States
15 years wines experience with 6 years on the business, Riedel is my choice when it come to wine glass. I used many other brands but settle with Riedel.
I purchased O series for gathering/party use, it won't easy got knock down (after people drink a lot and get too relax) as other series. I can't afford to pay for their careless!

MY wife complain the size is too big for her hand, it's true and I end up wash glasses by myself (the only draw back). The price is OK consider the quality. Did I tell you the glasses were made in Germany?

So, you love wine, you've bought a few of your favorite bottles and you store them in a wine rack on your counter or on top of your refrigerator. Then one day your friend brings you a bottle and you get another bottle for a gift and you begin to run out of room on your counter. Then you begin thinking...where is the best place to store my wine. Most wine lovers have seen the day that requires graduating from a couple bottles in a rack to coming up with some sort of system to sort, store, and keep wine accessible. The following are some tips for keeping your wine healthy and tasting good long-term.

Wine is best stored under cool, dark, airy conditions, free from vibration, odors and dampness. A cellar need not be under the house. The single most important factor is temperature stability. Wines stored where the temperature varies gradually with the seasons are better off than wines stored in a room which is heated during the day and then allowed to cool to winter temperatures at night.

Winter Wines?

With the holiday season fast approaching, most people are tackling the difficult task of purchasing wines that can be paired with the special foods of the season. Apart from the universal saying of Drink What You Like, there are a few useful tips to help you select the proper holiday wine.

. Forget about all the traditional reprimands, like pairing red wines with red meat and white wines with seafood.

. Try pairing full-bodied wines, either red or white, with full-flavored foods, and lighter wines with lighter food items.

Many people love to sample different types of wine, but sometimes, you just can not find one you really enjoy. Homemade fruit wine making is the one way to experiment with different fruits and juices to make a wine you like. Using a guide like the ultimate fruit winemaker's guide will help you with your winemaking efforts

All you need to do is to follow simple wine making instructions, especially during the fermentation phase. Grapes are naturally complementary to the wine making process and require very little adjustment during fermentation.

In cases of grape wine, this is made from pure grape juice. But for other fruit wines, additional water is needed to dilute the juice prior to the winemaking procedure. This is mainly because of the intense flavor. Secondly, some of the fruits may be high in their acidic property, which in turn makes the wine too sharp in taste if used full strength. Examples include gooseberry and blueberry juices.

Wine should breathe a little, but not overnight. Putting an end to the oxidation process, which turns a favorite Merlot into vinegar, is easy with the Vacu Vin Wine Saver. Made from high-quality rubber, which will not affect the taste of the wine, the Wine Saver uses a vacuum-style pump to release air to keep a wine fresh. And it's easy to use--just place a stopper in a bottle's neck, place the pump over the stopper, and pump air out until some resistance is felt. This process is suitable for preserving all but sparkling wines, and will save Chiantis, Syrahs, and others for up to two weeks. --Madeleine Miller

  • Keeps open wine fresh for two weeks
  • Correct usage puts an end to the oxidation process

Product Description

This Riedel Vinum Bordeaux stemware set is an amazing value at 8 glasses for the price of 6. The glasses in this set of eight were specifically shaped to highlight the fruit in full-bodied red wines with high levels of tannin, such as Bordeaux, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Rioja, and Tempranillo. The design of the Bordeaux bowl directs the wine to the area of the palate that perceives sweetness, emphasizing the fruit and mellowing the acidity or any rough edges, while the large bowls provide room for the wine's rich bouquet to unfold. Each glass stands 8-7/8 inches high. Riedel is the world's premier manufacturer of wine glasses. Made of lead crystal, the Vinum glasses are Riedel's most popular series and were the first machine-made wine glasses to be developed uniquely for each type of wine. Since their introduction in 1986, these wine glasses have had a large influence on the wine culture, and wine lovers around the globe.

Why are wine clubs begun? There are any number of reasons. Perhaps it is because they get special pricing available only to members of a wine club, perhaps they want to take advantage of the variety available every month, and some form because of the social interaction and sharing their favorites with their friends.

A wine club will explore wines from other countries and will receive information about varieties, vintages, and wineries from around the world. Many of the makers of wine go back for generations. There are wine clubs all over the world, France, Australia, Italy, Spain, and the United States.
