Product Description

Episode One: Tuscany is one of the most important and distinguished wine regions in Italy. Among the region's legendary wines are Brunello di Montalcino, Vino Nobile de Montepulciano, and the ever-present Chianti Classico.

Episode Two: Marches stretches from Tuscany to Umbria to the Adriatic coast. Its wines are less well known than those of its more famous neighbors. The chief grape varieties of the region include Sangiovese and Trebbiano.

Episode Three: Lazio is in the heart of Italy. The bulk of the region's wine production is white and is centered in the Castelli Romani, the hill outside of Rome.

Episode Four: Puglia comprises the southernmost region on the "heel" of the Italian boot. The region produces over 350 million gallons of wine and ranks only behind Sicily as Italy's largest producer.

Episode Five: The production of wine in Sicily dates back to the eighth century BC. Today, Sicily has over half a million acres of land devoted to wine grapes and produces over 400 million gallons of wine annually.

Episode Six: Historically, linguistically, and culturally the island of Sardinia seems detached from the mainstream of Italian culture. Wine varieties, not surprisingly, are unique to the island and appear to be primarily of Spanish origin.

Apprx: 2 hrs, color.

Viva L'Italia Viva Vino!

Review Date: December 4, 2007
Reviewer: Bachus Magoo, Perth, Western Australia
I've been searching across the globe for DVD's on wine and winemaking, and thanks to Amazon this briliant work of art has hit the ticket. Fair enough the technology used to produce both DVD,s dosen't do its content justice but the insight, history, and general information about Italian wines and its regions is a must for any wine enthusist. As an amateur wine maker (with an Italian background), the scenes of vingerons unloading their crop straight into the crusher, and seeing the wine pouring into demijohns made me feel like grabbing my passport, jump on a plane and giving them a hand.
Come on! It is only $9!

Sure, it is a series of TV episodes linked together to form a full length DVD, but Come on! It is only $9! There is a lot of information, pretty scenery, and stops at various wine regions. I know the sound quality is kinda poor, but Come on! It is only $9! COME ON!

I might like this video better if the actual video part was there - seriously, I'm listening to the lady talk but the video keeps fluctuating between fuzzy black and white and no video signal at all. The production values seem pretty low when the rare moments of imagery do pop up - I wonder if way back wherever it originated from someone just dubbed it from tape to tape (it seems like it started as an old VHS) and maybe it was partly magnetized by accident?

Other than that the video does seem to dwell a lot on festivals and side-stories that, while, nice, seem to keep it off topic for a bit too long. I think some maps and lists to lead-in and/or summarize would've helped me, but maybe that's just my personal learning style.

The Piedmont region of northern Italy produces many great wines, but none of them are based on the Dolcetto grape. Dolcetto means little sweet things in Italian and is the most popular red grape in Piedmont. There are seven Dolcetto wine designations based on small zones all tucked into the southeast of this beautiful region. Only an expert can tell them apart. I can think of many Piedmont wine tastings much more exciting than trying to distinguish among seven Dolcettos.

To those who love to taste wine, wine tasting is simply referred to as 'tasting'. Wine tasting involves evaluating and examining wine using one’s senses. It has become very popular today and even has special terminologies and can be termed as a profession. These professionals agree that learning the art of tasting wine makes people have a deeper appreciation for both winemakers and the wines.

Wine tasters limit the art of tasting to four main tastes. There are four primary tastes according to wine tasters: sweet, sour, salty, and bitter. Wine can be just one of these, or a combination of multiple tastes. Wine tasting is defined by not just the effect of tasting, but also the smell of the wine as well.

Today, Sonoma winemakers combine high technology with their traditional craft creating premium wines with a unique style. In Paso Robles and the Edna Valley you'll experiece both old and new wine making traditions. Inspired by the wines of the Rhone Valley, winemakers integrate the best of French winemaking skills into their distinctly Californian way of life.

A hanging wine rack is basically any kind of wine rack that is either hung from the ceiling, a wall or a shelf. Other people also call some wine racks a hanging wine rack if the wine bottle in it gives the impression of being delicately hung. Other people call these types of hanging wine racks as wine hangers. Some people also refer to a rack wherein the glasses are hung upside down by their stems as a hanging wine rack if wine bottles are also stored above the hanging wine glasses.

Benefits

There are many benefits that come from using hanging wine glass rack storage as well. They help you to neatly and precisely store your wine, even in tight spaces. You can even find wall mounted wine racks that hold up to twelve bottles. There are metal, wood and even plastic varieties available, but if you want to hold a lot of wine it will be quite heavy so you will want to choose a sturdier material.

Perfect for all wine lovers

Review Date: August 29, 2008
Reviewer: Susan F. Goode, FL
I was always nervous about ordering wine in a restaurant...having to pick the right wine and concerned about sending it back if bad. This DVD taught me all the secrets of ordering wine in a retaurant. The wine gifting tips are invaluable, but best of all are the tours of the Paso Robles vineyards. Well worth the purchase price

Product Description

“Part detective story, part wine history, this is one juicy tale, even for those with no interest in the fruit of the vine. . . . As delicious as a true vintage Lafite.” —BusinessWeek

The Billionaire’s Vinegar tells the true story of a 1787 Château Lafite Bordeaux—supposedly owned by Thomas Jefferson—that sold for $156,000 at auction and of the eccentrics whose lives intersected with it. Was it truly entombed in a Paris cellar for two hundred years? Or did it come from a secret Nazi bunker? Or from the moldy basement of a devilishly brilliant con artist? As Benjamin Wallace unravels the mystery, we meet a gallery of intriguing players—from the bicycle-riding British auctioneer who speaks of wines as if they are women to the obsessive wine collector who discovered the bottle. Suspenseful and thrillingly strange, this is the vintage tale of what could be the most elaborate con since the Hitler diaries. Updated for paperback with a new epilogue.

When persons consider wine making equipment, they normally only think about the  apparatus needed to create the wine. In addition, you should think of the other wine creating accessories like bottles, stoppers and labels. You can select from clear bottles, green bottles and blue bottles. The sizes of the bottles are usually common with a capacity large enough to hold 750 ml. The stoppers should be brand-new every single time to keep the wine from spoiling. It is not just about making the wine, as it does contain bottling the wine. The wine creating products will also include the labels to give your wine a name.
