Any wine connoisseur appreciate a nice wine bottle stopper to keep his opened product as fresh as it was when it was first opened. Of course, you do want to let some varietals breathe a little bit but you definitely don’t want to leave the bottle open for a long period of time. For some reason, people love to dress up their wine bottles. We place decorative elements over the neck of the container. I once purchased netting with imitation jewels that gave my bottles a little sparkle for the holiday season. I added a shiny silver wine bottle stopper that boasted an imitation red ruby stone. This container looked more like a decoration than a bottle of wine.
There is something charming about adding such elements to these containers. A wine bottle stopper can be a great conversation piece during a formal dinner party or it can add some flair to a theme-based party. It can also be used for a little humor at casual get-togethers with close friends.
When my husband and I were planning our wedding we received a very special wine gift basket from a friend. The basket held two delicate wine glasses, a couple bottles of wine and other necessities associated with the popular beverage. Among the items was a handy opener that was amazingly easy to use as well as a wine bottle stopper. We had to laugh when we saw it.
The wine bottle stopper was topped with a monk guzzling the grape beverage out of an oak barrel. This piece was meticulously hand painted with amazing detail. The character’s expression is priceless and the overall look of the piece has an air of antiquity about it. The wine bottle stopper was well packaged in an attractive box that has twine threading around it.
In fact, the entire wine bottle stopper package was so nicely done that I haven’t even opened it yet. I just don’t want to take the monk out of his little home. He looks incredibly content and rather funny in his package. I actually keep the wine bottle stopper in its package right on top of my wine rack.
Some utilitarian items are just too nice to use. Of course, we did by another wine bottle stopper that we actually use to cork a bottle. I just don’t have the heart to ruin the memory of the great presentation.
